It is also important to know what Obamacare Open Enrollment is not. It is not Medicare Open Enrollment.

The DoctorMedicare Open Enrollment is the annual period when you can make certain changes to your Medicare coverage. This year’s Medicare Open Enrollment Period begins on Oct. 15 and ends on Dec. 7. This seven-and-a-half week period is an excellent opportunity to reevaluate your current Medicare coverage and to make any changes that seem appropriate. For example, you may wish to switch Medicare Advantage plans, switch from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare in order to purchase a Medicare supplement plan, or add a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan to your current Medicare coverage. You may also choose to keep your current coverage and not make any changes.

Obamacare Open Enrollment should not concern you if you are enrolled in Medicare. Obamacare Open Enrollment, which begins Oct. 1, is a health plan enrollment opportunity for people who do not currently have health insurance. While an estimated 48 million Americans (15.4 percent of the current population) may stand to benefit from Obamacare Open Enrollment, people with Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurance are not among that group. If you have Medicare coverage, you meet every Obamacare health coverage requirement and do not need to be concerned about Obamacare Open Enrollment, which is designed to help people without insurance sign up for health plans before health coverage becomes mandatory for nearly all Americans on Jan. 1, 2014.

If you are on Medicare, you can stay above all the confusion about Obamacare Open Enrollment. It does not concern you. But don’t forget to make the most of your Oct. 15-Dec. 7 Medicare Open Enrollment opportunities!

This is typical and sold by private carriers that can assist in paying for the loss there would be with out of pocket expenses such as co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance.
